The myth

Agamedes Ἀγαμήδης

“very clever”

Brother of Trophonius and his equal in the work. Together they laid the stone course of Apollo’s temple at Delphi on the foundations the god had set. The Hymn names them both as sons of Erginus, and Pausanias remembers them as the two master builders of the early age. His name means “very clever” or “of great counsel”.

The myth never names one brother without the other. Agamedes engineers and Trophonius designs, and the work passes between them as it did on the temple stones.
