The myth

Trophonius Τροφώνιος

“the nourisher”

In the Homeric Hymn, Apollo lays the foundations of his temple at Delphi himself. Trophonius and his brother Agamedes set the stone course on top of them. Pausanias preserves the tradition that Trophonius was a son of Apollo. Later, at Lebadeia in Boeotia, Trophonius became an oracle, and visitors went down into his cave to ask what he knew.

One of two master builders working on the god’s own foundations, he is the one who designs and reviews. Over time his story moves from builder to oracle, and that is the role this star grows into: the team’s technical memory, the one you go down to and ask.

The arc: Architect now; over time, the team’s technical memory (the oracle of Lebadeia).
